Estimator Savage, MN 11.7.13

Purpose/Scope:
Develop accurate, on-time estimates for prospective and listed projects and coordinate preconstruction activities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  •           Interpret architectural and structural drawings/specs for the purpose of developing project cost
  •           Coordinate vendors & third party resources as required for project development
  •           Clarify/coordinate information with Sales, Engineering, Production, Field & Project Management
  •           Perform detailed quantity take-off for project estimation
  •           Record project information in CRM database
  •           Develop cost changes throughout the project cycle and distribute to the appropriate departments
  •           Undertake training on estimating systems, as well as the overall function and purpose of the company
  •           Attend meetings as required
  •           Special projects assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications:
  •           Minimum of two (2) year degree in Drafting/Estimating, Project/Construction management, or Architecture
  •           Three to five years of experience in commercial construction Estimating/ Preconstruction or Project
  •            Management
  •           Strong working knowledge of and possess the ability to interpret architectural/structural drawings and specifications
  •           Willingness and ability to quickly learn new procedures
  •           High scanning accuracy and high mathematical aptitude
  •           Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •           Able to work with others in a collaborative manner
  •           Well organized and detail oriented
  •           Able to maintain focus on a given task
  •           Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  •           Demonstrate commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, quality and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
  •        Bachelor’s degree in Project/Construction management, Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture
  •        Exhibit the ability and desire for upward mobility in the organization
Physical Requirements:
  •          Able to lift 20 pounds
Work Environment:
  •          Work in office environment
  •          Visits to plant, yard and job sites as necessary
