The holidays are fast approaching, but there’s still time to make a fun, welcoming sight when your guests show up for the holiday dinner. Taking a cue from pre-cast concrete and echoing how they are formed, lighted ice sculptures are so beautiful and easy to make. The best part is that it’s cheap and can be made with supplies found around the home.
Here’s what you need:
- Two buckets – 1 large, 1 medium sized
- Tape
- Water
- Freezing Temperature or a freezer
- Tea light candles
How to:
Fill large bucket 2/3 full with water. Fill medium bucket with water (to weigh it down — you can also use rocks) and set inside the large bucket. If it displaces too much water out of the large bucket, pour some water out.
Using the tape, make a criss-cross pattern to ensure that there isn’t too much moving around as it freezes. Make sure you leave an even margin on all sides.
Set outside for 24 hours.
Remove medium container (using warm water if they don’t come apart).
Set ice sculptures in place outside with tea light candle.
Light and enjoy.
