Purpose/Scope:
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and supervising activities related to the design, development and implementation of information technology infrastructure and supporting systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in Strategic Planning applying knowledge and vision of technology and systems to achieve strategic objectives
- Determine overall direction and strategy for corporate information technology implementation
- Prepare an annual Information Technology plan designed to outline the departmental goals for the year
- Perform research and development activities for new products
- Perform IT Project Manager functions for internal and external software development
- Accountable for achieving project commitments and managing IT to Service Level Agreement
- Oversee or provide testing of both internal and external software development
- Maintain awareness of the latest technological developments in hardware and software by reading, networking and attendance of appropriate seminars or classes
- Administer and prepare annual departmental and capital expenditure budgets for information technology and supporting systems
- Evaluate the performance of department members and determine appropriate salary adjustments
- Determine the need for outsourcing systems projects and act as liaison and purchasing agent when required
- Direct analysis activities for determining system requirements, needs analysis and modeling documentation
- Recommend computer hardware/software enhancements, services and vendors
- Maintain company voice and data systems
- Ensure appropriate security systems are in place for company data
- Ensure appropriate backup and disaster recovery procedures are in place
- Perform cabling for new employees or as necessary
- Provide backup to IT staff members when necessary
- Provide before and after hours support for employees
- Provide oversight of building security systems
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or other related field
- Management skills
- Knowledge of structured analysis, design and programming methodologies
- Knowledge of systems development in manufacturing and construction environments
- Knowledge of ERP systems
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
- Knowledge of system administration in a Microsoft environment including Windows, Exchange, Active Directory, SQL, SharePoint, .net and Reporting Services
- Provide vendor development and management
- Knowledge of multi-tier client/server architecture
- Must be conversant with needs of technical people as well as all levels of the organization

- Commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, first time quality, and efficiency
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to crawl under desks
Work Environment:
- Occassional travel required
- Must be able to work before and/or after regular business hours
- Office and plant environment
